What I liked most about the novel
The element of the story that I liked most was the author's ability to detail confronting history through the eyes of a 9 year-old child. The issues that the book deal with are quite disturbing. The author does a very good job to make it as respectful and sensitive as possible for both sides. He does this while delivering a compelling and touching story of an impossible friendship.
The novel has excellent character development. Each character introduced through the story is given a backstory and the reader is given an explanation for how each individual fits into the story. This draws the reader's attention and creates a more in depth plot. All the characters are very believable and it is very easy to relate and identify with their behaviours and emotions.
